A report found that in 2025, the EU generated more electricity from wind and solar than it did from fossil fuels – a huge milestone in the transition towards cleaner energy.

Spain Making the Most of Solar
A new analysis by SolarPower Europe has found that utilising sunlight for energy has saved Europe €12.8 Billion as of 2nd June 2026 – an average of €136 Million every day.
Spain has doubled its wind as well as solar capabilities, adding more than 40GW to its energy mix. 1 GW can power approximately 876,000 households for one year.
UK Making the Most of Wind
British wind energy hit a record high of 23,880 megawatts in March 2026, enough power to supply 23 million homes.
RenewableUK’s Tara Singh said that “Wind provided more than half of Britain’s electricity during this record period…with gas falling to its lowest level of generation for nearly two years, providing just 2.3 per cent of our electricity.”
