A new report highlights the top 10 cheapest areas for GenZ to get on the property ladder within the UK.
The report by Lloyds Banking Group analysed data from approved mortgage data from Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland. The analysis identified hot-spots in the UK that offer the best bang-for-buck for first time buyers looking to get on the property ladder. The analysis was based on 12 months of data up until February 2026.
East Ayrshire in Scotland came out on top, identified as the least expensive location for those looking to buy their first home with an average price of £147,353.
Amanda Bryden, head of mortgages at Lloyds said that “there are still genuine pockets of value for first time buyers.” She added that flexibility is key, with a willingness to be open minded on location and property type.
