What is a Mail Forwarding Service?

A mail forwarding service allows you to use your business name with an address at which you do not rent a physical office, but can still receive mail sent to that address.
 

How does a Mail Forwarding Service work?

With our mail forwarding services you can provide your business with a prestigious trading address without the associated overheads of renting floor space. 

You use our address in conjunction with your business name on your website, letterhead, advertising and marketing material, and when your customers post correspondence to the mail forwarding address, we will forward it back out to you at another confidential address.

Mail is forwarded daily via first class post, or Special Delivery or courier where appropriate.  A postage deposit is required for all mail forwarding services and detailed in the table above.
 

Who uses Mail Forwarding Services?

Mail forwarding services are used by a broad range of businesses from sole traders who don’t wish to advertise their home address, or who don’t need an independent office to run their business, but want to give the impression of a non-home-based business to clients; to national and international companies wishing to provide a regional point of contact for their customers.
 

Mail Forwarding with Registered Address Service

All mail forwarding services are available with or without a registered address service.  The registered address option allows you to use your mail forwarding address as your official registered office at Companies House.  If you are a sole trader, partnership, or other entity which is not registered with Companies House, of if you simply wish to use the mail forwarding service as a secondary address for your business, you do not need to select the Registered Address mail forwarding option.
 

International Mail Forwarding Service

All the mail forwarding tariffs may be used to forward mail internationally.  An additional deposit of £30 is payable on top of the deposits listed in the table above.  The mail forwarding services may only be used to forwards letters internationally, we are unable to ship packages, parcels or any type of goods.
 

Mail Forwarding Service or PO Box?

There are crucial differences between a mail forwarding service and a PO Box, which, depending on the impression you wish to give customers, can greatly enhance your public image.

The advantage of a mail forwarding service is that it allows for receipt of items which must be signed for upon delivery.  PO Box services are unmanned, so there is no one to sign for parcels delivered by courier or Recorded or Special delivery.  If you think customers or suppliers may send you anything you might need to sign for, a mail forwarding service is a better option.

Another advantage of a manned mail forwarding service is that any unannounced visitors to your office will be greeted by a receptionist.  Customers do turn up without an appointment and it makes for a better impression if they are met by a professional receptionist, even if they are unable to speak to you in person as they were expecting.  With our mail forwarding service, one of our professional receptionists will advise your caller you are not in the office and take a message, allowing you to contact your caller and arrange a more convenient appointment.

A further advantage of a mail forwarding service over a PO Box is that it presents your business from a platform which customers know and trust.  PO Boxes are often used as fronts for disreputable businesses, because they do not require a person to be present at the address.  An identifiable street address in the form of a mail forwarding service with a manned reception desk eliminates any suggestion of 'hiding' and instils customer confidence and trust in your business.
